Marty founded Atlantic Valet in 1985 upon graduating from Georgetown University. In a few short years, Atlantic grew to be the nation's largest provider of special event valet services. In response to his clients' needs, Marty added Atlantic Transportation to the Atlantic family. In March of 2000, Atlantic Valet grew into Atlantic Services Group, Inc, and the Parking Garage Management division was added to complete the triad formation that exists today: Atlantic Parking, Atlantic Valet, and Atlantic Transportation.
Marty is very active in both business associations as well as philanthropic causes. He has been an extremely active member of the International Special Events Society (ISES) which has nearly 5,500 members worldwide. In 1995, he was President of the Washington, DC ISES Chapter, and has just completed serving a term as the Society's International President. In addition to ISES, he serves on the board for the Washington Parking Association (WPA) and on the Executive Committee of the DC chapter of the Young President's Organization (YPO).
Marty's work in the community is far reaching. His fund raising efforts for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society earned him recognition in 1996 as a "Man of the Year" finalist. He also had a very significant role in the Society's "Team in Training" campaign. Since 2000, Children's causes have been at the center of his philanthropic world. Marty served on the Board for the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) for 6 years. In 2006, he joined the Board of Advisors for Training Grounds, an organization focused on teaching work related skills to the District's young adults. Additionally, Marty helped create the "Partners for Kids" committee, which is a group of local leaders who provide ongoing resources, guidance, and mentoring to the DC Child and Family Services Agency for their Foster Children's Program.
When he isn't thinking about parking and transportation, Marty spends his time coaching his kids' baseball, softball, and basketball teams. After watching the kids get some exercise, he gets his own by training for and competing in several marathons and triathlons each year. His most recent personal triumph was the Coeur d'Alene Ironman in 2006.
Donna joined the Atlantic team in 2006, and has been impressing clients ever since. Her years of experience in the transportation industry and as a small business owner, has made her a priceless asset to the Atlantic Family.
She is well known amongst our clients and staff for being exceptionally responsive, courteous, and attentive to details. Under her leadership, our Transportation division runs like well-oiled machine for special events and contract locations alike.
A native of Jamaica, Donna loves reading, cooking, and spending time with her husband and three children. When she’s not at an Atlantic event, you’ll probably find her at one of the many family events she plans at her home, or winning a game of UNO against her kids.
Yohannes holds a Business Administration degree from Strayer University. He is an Atlantic veteran who has been part of the team since its inception. During his tenure, he has managed all types of parking garage and lot operations, which has given him an unparalleled knowledge of the parking garage business. As Executive Director of Atlantic's parking division, he now focuses on our valued client and tenant relationships.
Outside the office, Yohannes admits to being a politics junkie. Once the TV is flipped to CNN, there are only three things that can tear him away: a Redskins game, a steak dinner with his wife, and a trip to the park with his two children (and a parking emergency of course!)
If you park in an Atlantic garage, you have most likely seen Mario. He and his maintenance team take care of repairs and renovations at our parking facilities, and they do so with a smile. He is an Atlantic veteran who has a long history with the company.
In his role as General Manager of the maintenance division, he utilizes his vast knowledge and experience to evaluate how to best utilize his team's time and resources to ensure that all Atlantic locations meet our top quality standards.
For Atlantic, Mario may work with his hands, but in his free time he works with his feet. He spends his weekends playing, watching, and thinking about soccer. He also enjoys jogging with his daughter and spoiling Benjy (the family dog who is king of the house).
Henry has been holding tight to Atlantic's purse strings since Atlantic has been old enough to carry a purse. He has a special way of keeping us all in check to ensure that we maximize our clients' investments, budget properly, and all get paid every week. Although he tries to fool us with his hardened style, we know that deep down he has a sincere and caring heart.
Henry received an undergraduate Accounting degree from Hsing Wu College in Taiwan and an MBA in International Finance from George Mason University. His knack for numbers, sharp eye, and keen memory make him an invaluable asset to Atlantic's operation.
On the personal side, he is a foodie who spends his free time experiencing all that the culinary world of greater DC has to offer. As Atlantic's resident dining connoisseur, Henry is always there to offer his restaurant recommendations – which are usually right on.
It is well known in business that passion for your line of work is a key to success; Chris, our Manager of Human Resources, is passionate about people. His dedication to and genuine care for the Atlantic team shines through on Muffin Mondays, Wellness Wednesdays, Bagel Fridays, and in his over-the-top Employee of the Month and birthday celebrations.
Chris came to Atlantic in 2005 after spending 12 years with the Walt Disney Company. Besides hanging out with visiting celebrities, his career with "The Mouse" included event planning and execution at the Magic Kingdom, training development for Walt Disney World Resort Cast Members, and managing and measuring leadership development and effectiveness.
He has been a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) for 2 years and is a proud Alumni Facilitator for The LeaderShape© Institute.
Outside of Atlantic, Chris loves to cook. His culinary successes are served to his partner, while his culinary fiascos are served to his dogs. Those who know him know that he is impossible to stump when it comes to Disney trivia and that the way to his heart is through brownie sundaes and Jelly Belly jellybeans.
